About me

Enjoying a beautiful day at the Featherbed Nature Reserve in Knysna, South Africa.

Hey – my name is Kate and I’m a native South Carolinian, but I’ve found myself as an expat in two different countries: previously,  in the United Arab Emirates, and currently, in South Africa.

Despite having spent the majority of my life in South Carolina, I’ve moved quite a bit in the past eight years – mostly to follow my love (and now husband), a South African wildlife biologist. I’ll always be a South Carolina gal at heart, but I have learned to love some of the things about the other places I’ve lived in, and failing that – I’ve at least learned.

I hope that you’ll find my blog equal parts entertaining, informative and humorous. Let’s just say I’ve had some adventures and misadventures along the way- and I’m (usually) more than willing to tell you all about it, and give you my two cents on the matter.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”  – Dr. Seuss
